Geothermal System Installation
Skilled Geothermal System Installers Near You
Installing a geothermal heating and cooling system in your central Illinois home may seem overwhelming compared to the relative ease of replacing your traditional HVAC equipment. However, the expert team at Hoveln is here to help you navigate the process.
After all, a part of the geothermal process entails digging in your backyard and installing a geothermal loop field. Installing a geothermal heating and cooling system takes considerably more planning and time. On average, it takes 3-6 months from the initial site visit to the system being operation.
What to expect during the Geothermal estimate process.
The first step of the process is having one of our comfort advisors out for a site visit. They will determine the size of system your home needs which is done by using a Manual J based software. We will need to know the size of the home, the type of insulation you have, windows, doors, and the temperature you are most comfortable at. The comfort advisor will also evaluate your current systems duct work to ensure there is enough supply and return ductwork to heat and cool your space properly. Lastly, we will make sure there is enough electrical power available for the system to work. We can then present you with the options that would work best for your home and other available upgrades and options as well.
After you have made a decision, we will have the loop drilling company out to inspect your property and apply for all the necessary permits. Once the permits are approved, we can start out work!
The loop installation requires excavation which can sometimes be tricky depending on where you live and how big your yard its. Vertical loop do not take up as much space as horizontal loops do but some yards are still too small. There are several local and state codes that might affect the installation. You can find them in the FAQ sections.
After installation, we will ensure that every part of the system works at peak efficiency. We will also take you on a visual tour of your new heating and cooling unit and explain thermostat use, air filter changes, and other maintenance tasks.
Geothermal installation is an exciting and satisfying step toward lower energy bills, improved year-round comfort, a smaller carbon footprint, and a decades-long-lasting heating and cooling solution that can increase your home’s value.

Geothermal heating and cooling systems are more expensive to install than conventional HVAC systems but use significantly less energy when operating. The cost of a geothermal system varies widely depending on several factors, including the size of your home, the type of system, and the specifics of the installation.
The initial investment includes the cost of drilling and installing the underground loop system, which is the most significant expense. While the upfront cost are significant, geothermal systems’ efficiency, durability, and environmental benefits make them a worthwhile investment for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint and lower utility costs over time.
While the upfront cost is higher compared to traditional HVAC systems, it is offset by lower energy bills—up to 72 percent—and federal tax credits or rebates. Installing a geothermal heating and cooling system qualifies for a 30 percent credit on your federal income taxes through 2032. Check ENERGY STAR® for more information.

“Jay Nava is fantastic and is always explaining everything so thoroughly and ensuring everything is done accurately.”
“Our Water Furnace unit had stopped blowing cool air. We contacted Hoveln on a Wednesday morning, and a technician came out that afternoon. His diagnostics showed a failed compressor, which he said was very rare but they would order a replacement. A compressor is an expensive part. Hoveln then sent out another technician on Friday to confirm the diagnosis. After considerable testing and consultation with the manufacturer, it was determined that the problem was not the compressor, but a controller for the compressor. That controller had a history of failures, and Hoveln replaced it under warranty. Even though the warranty had expired. We were only charged for one service call. Needless to say, we are very happy with the way Hoveln handled this problem.
We have been Hoveln customers for many years, and plan to remain so for many more.”
“Hoveln again did a wonderful job. We had issues during the holiday season and they responded quickly to us and worked hard to diagnose the issue. Jeff, Sheri, Chris and Brant did a great job communicating and constantly followed up with us to be sure the problem was resolved. They are always fair, honest, and courteous.”
“The team from Hoveln did a difficult, two-day installation of a replacement geothermal unit, which has performed splendidly. I couldn't be happier with the service and the product.”
